A drop of the sun fell on Earth and it grew a magic golden flower with the powers to heal the sick and injury. Mother Gothel finds the flower and hides it; later on she discovers that when she sings to the flower, her old aged body becomes young again. When the beloved Queen of the kingdom is about to have a baby, she gets sick and the only hope to save her is to find a miracle like the magic flower. But Mother Gothel does not want to share the sun's gift and keeps the flower hidden. However, the spot is discovered by the kingdom guards and the magic of the golden flower heals the Queen. When the Queen's daughter Rapunzel is born, she receives the healing power from the flower, however, Gothel is envious of Rapunzel and abducts her to use her magic hair to stay young. Gothel raises Rapunzel as her own daughter. She locks her in an isolated, humongous tower. Mother Gothel keeps Rapunzel far away from life outside the tower, telling her that it is for her own protection from all the horrible things. The King, Queen and villagers who live in the Kingdom celebrate the anniversary of the lost daughters birthday by releasing lanterns to the sky. Rapunzel's dream is to see the floating lights in the outside world by leaving the tower. When the thieves and Rider steal the crown they are chased by royal guards. However, he manipulates his fellow companion thieves and runs off with the crown by himself. He discovers Rapunzel's tower and climbs it to hide. However, Rapunzel hits him with a frying pan and hides his satchel with the crown. Rapunzel promises to return the satchel if Flynn takes her to see the lanterns. Flynn accepts her deal and they start a dangerous journey full of discoveries and love. With always the trouble of being chased by the guards, the bandits and Mother Gothel.
